Think About Turning Today!

September 2013 President’s Message:

Please note: This is our planning meeting for the Symposium 8

This meeting will involve the final planning session for the Symposium. It will also be your last chance to register for the reduced fee of $80. You can also register by sending your fee to our post office box, Yellowstone Turners, PO Box 21836, Billings, MT 59104. You can access the registration form by going to our webpage, Since this is our major fund raiser for the year, we are counting on a good participation. Our presenter is Rex Burningham from Utah. He is very conversant in carbide tools which are beginning to dominate the turning world. His presentation on this subject will be extensive.

The Montana Fair Woodturners demo at the Hobby Hall was excellent this year. I must commend a couple of members. Jerry Gipe covered all times that were not covered and so he was the face of our club at the Fair this year. Thanks, Jerry. And Martin Robinson generously provided his turning equipment for all the volunteer turners. Thanks, Marin. We were awarded two ribbons: Judges Award and the Best of Show. Thanks, everyone.

We are looking forward to a successful Symposium again this Year!!

Dr. Van
