Call for Guests: We had a new guest show
up, Andy Pixel and he may become a member.

Health Reports: No new reports.
Correspondence: We have some hats and sew on
patches with our club's logo for sale. Call Ron Velin.
There was a motion and seconded, passed on buying food and
drinks for our demonstration at Billings Hardware.
Show and Tell: August challenge, any kind of bowl.
Jane Kelly: Brought a bowl made from Cottonwood and a bowl
made from found on ground wood
with a pine lid, finishes unknown.
Ron Velin: Brought a bowl made from Maple, stained and
finished with urethane.
Dale Molyneaux: Brought 2 natural edge bowls made from
Chokecherry, finish unknown.
Ralph Torrence: Brought a bowl made from Honeylocust with
a CA glue finish.
Jarred McDaniel: Brought 2 bowls, one made from Ash & Red
Heart the other made from Maple &
Sassafras, finishes unknown.
Dr. Van: Brought a bowl made from Maple, finish unknown.
Roger Hust: Brought 2 bowls one made from Russian Olive
the other from Cottonwood, finishes
Phil Scott: Brought a bowl made from Cottonwood burl, no
Jerry Gipe: Brought a potpourri bowl made from reclaimed
Cedar with a lacquer finish.
Dan Vanderhoof: Brought a natural edge bowl made from Oak
with an oil finish.
Other show and tell:
Dr. Van: Brought a clock made
from a piece of Russian Olive, finish unknown. He also
brought a purse made from
Poplar, finished unknown.
Jane Kelly: Brought a goblet
with 2 captive rings made from Crabapple, finish unknown.
Dale Molyneaux: Brought a bird
house made from barn wood and Oak, no finish. He also
brought several eggs made from a
variety of woods, finishes unknown.
Dave Torrence: Brought 2 wood
puzzles, kind of wood and finish unknown.
Andrew Bishop: Brought a bottle
opener with a Karaganda wood handle, finish unknown. He
also brought a coffee table made
from Russian Olive, finish unknown.
Paul Spencer: Brought several
flutes one made from Juniper, finish unknown. The others
were made from cordon. He also
brought 2 mallets made from reclaimed plastic with wood handles.
George Oliver: Brought a hollow
form and wine cooler both made from Boxelder wood
with lacquer finish.

Open Workshop: No workshop scheduled.
Hands On Workshops: George Oliver is still
recovering from knee surgery.

Great Falls Woodturners annual symposium,
September 26 & 27 2015, presenter is
Rudy Lopez from Florida (from Barry Rockwell,
President) There is going to be a 2
day work shop after symposium. See newsletter for

Alan Carter will be our presenter. Cost if paid
by September 9 $ 90.00
Cost if paid after September 9 $100.00
Cost for one day Saturday or Sunday $ 75.00
Under 18 Free
Includes: lunch, coffee, cookies and snacks.
We need to start thinking about items for our
silent auction at our Symposium because
this is our biggest fund raiser for our club.
Dick Buckley has already donated a sander, so
if you have tools, wood or other items that other
turners would be interested in that
you would be willing to donate bring them in.
If you could help in setting up the luncheon and
snacks at our Symposium, call Ron V.
Billings Hardware demonstration was on Saturday
August 29th and we had a good turn
out of members with quit a few interested on
lookers. There will be more information
after our next meeting.

Ron and Dr. Van went to St. Vincent's children's
ward to visit and hand out our tops. There were only 3 children that could take
tops this visit. They told us to call in 2 weeks or so. Pictures were taken to
be put on there web site.
Chris Simonsen is taking orders for CA glue, he
has 4 requests needs 9. So if you would like some call Chris or Ron V.

Need someone for preparing lunches for both days
Be thinking of items for the silent auction, Dick Buckley has already donated
a great sander to the cause, so go thru your unused items and see what you have
available. Alan Carter is extremely excited to be coming out to present four
different sessions on: Long Stem goblets, suspended vessels, split bowl vessels
and design. More info on Alan can be found at www.alancarterstudio.com. Dates
are the same, October 17th and 18th. Cost will be $90 for full symposium and $75
for one day. Cost at the door will be $100. Great Falls Woodturners
annual symposium, September 26 & 27, 2015, presenter is Rudy Lopez from Florida
