Call for Guests:
We had a new guests at our meeting that is a
student at West High School who
comes to our wood turning classes and is quite
sure he will join our club.
No new reports
We have some hats and sew on patches with our club's
logo for sale. Call Ron V.
Show and Tell:
This month challenge was any kind of toy.
Ralph T . Brought two toy cars made from a variety of
woods, finish unknown.
Roger H. Brought several whistles and tops made from
Cotton Wood with a shellac finish.
Ron V. Brought a cup and ball toy, kind of wood and finish
Jane K. Brought several small birds made from Box Elder,
Apple and Red Cedar with club mix finish.
Stan L. Brought a wobble roller made from Oak, finish
unknown and a car made from Ipe with a
Nick E. Brought a spinning dancer and pedestal made from
Maple with a color and oil finish.
Other Show and Tell:
Jerry G. Brought a bowl made from an old fence post, kind
of wood and finish unknown.
Tim M. Brought a cup made from Mahogany with wiping poly
Andy F. Brought a winged bowl, kind of wood and finish
Dale M. Brought a wine cooler made from Box Elder with a
Mahoneys oil finish.
Jane K. Brought a container made from Russian Olive with a
CA glue finish and a candle holder made
from Apple with club mix finish.
Chris S. Brought two bowls made from Curly Maple with CA
Gary L. Brought a plate and bowl made from Maple, finishes
Dr Van Brought a table made from a wood slab with the
bottom made on his Legacy machine, finish
We had a vote this meeting on the turnings members brought
for show and tell that we liked the
most. The top 5 got a gift. The winners were 1. Ralph T.
2. Chris S. 3. Gary L. 4. Jane K. 5. Jerry G
Next month's challenge:
No report this meeting.
We received a call from a Rick Slone about
some Apple wood and
Stan L. along with Jerry G. picked it up.
Soliciting New Members:
No workshop scheduled.
Hands On Workshops:
2016 Dues are due, remain at $25.
Stan L. told us more about name tags and showed
us the tags that Jane K. could make.
There was a motion and seconded that we go with
the tags that Jane K. can make.
Ron V. handed out sheets with a list of projects
that Keith Gotschall could do for our
Symposium and asked us to number our top 4
projects. The results will be talked about
at our next meeting.
Ron V. talked about the Souper Bowl fundraiser
that some of our members donated
wood bowls to and that next year getting a
reminder out sooner so we could get more
Dr Van our new Librarian asked for a motion to
purchase some new books for our
Library. There was a motion and seconded for him
to purchase them.
High School classes:
Stan L. told us that they did have a class this
Monthly turning challenge:
The challenge for March is lidded boxes.
If you need a new members list call Ron Velin.
Dr Van showed us his new threading machine
for his lathe and gave us a
demonstration on how it works. He also showed us
several urns that he had made
threaded tops for. He gave the cost and
information on were to get one. It was very
interesting and informative.
No program scheduled for next meeting.
