Think About Turning Today!

June 2013 President’s Message:

Truly, summer is upon us. And wood gathering is kicking in high gear. A fellow from Cody, Wyoming is cutting down ash trees that are superb woodturning quality … and at the advice of his custom cutter… called and offered the cut trees to our Club if we would come pick them up. More wood!!

Also, don’t forget!!! We are going to have a next workshop on Saturday June 15, 9:00 to 3:00 at Dan Vanderhoof’s Shop, 1225 Tappadero Trail, Lockwood. We will be turning goblets with rings still on the stem. This will be a potluck, but the Club will supply the bread and meat. Dan Vanderhoof’s phone number is 696-5382 in case you get lost. But here are the directions:

Location: 1225 Tappadero Trail in Lockwood….. Proceed east on I90 to the Johnson turnoff (Johnson Lane), at the Johnson Exit light turn left onto Old Hardin Road and proceed east. Just before going under the I90 overpass Old Hardin Road takes a right turn. The next right turn exit off Old Hardin Road is Whispering Pine, then left on Old Pine Drive, then left on Tappadero Trail. You will see Dan’s green house and garage immediately up the hill to your right.

Lost? Call Dan at 696-5382.

And we will have a guest presenter at the next meeting on Wednesday, June 12. Sam Angelo from Thermopolis, Wyoming will be demonstrating “How best to turn a bowl.”

See you on June 12!!

Dr. Van
