Think About Turning Today!

July 2013 President’s Message:

The summer is flying by when suddenly you are faced with the Montana Fair event. It is our plan again this year to provide a demo of woodturning at the fair in the newly reconditioned Hobby Hall. That means that we need your help to be present and to show the public what woodturning is all about. At our next meeting we will have a signup sheet for sessions. Please be generous with your time and talent. The fair is an opportunity to make friends and, hopefully, gain some new members. And remember… The Hobby Hall has a brand new face lift and air conditioning.

George Oliver from Judith Gap has offered to do a presentation at our July meeting on “The ABC’s of Turning a Bowl.” He presented his pneumonic of ABC at the last workshop when instructing us how to turn a goblet. It is most simple, but a giant leap for all turners when suddenly they realize…. This really makes sense. So do be present. Even the “old knowledge” is sometimes “new again.”

See you on July 10!!

Dr. Van
