Show and Tell: No January challenge
Other show and tell:
Ralph Pehl: Brought a hollowing
that he just got a to show and tell us how well it works.
He also brought a segmented
piece he is working on that is going to be a wine
cooler. He used his new
hollowing tool on it.
Stan Lambert: Brought a nut bowl
from Walnut and Maple, finished with Paul's mix. He
from Maple, finish unknown and a
Maple goblet with attached ring, finish
also brought 3 crosses made from
Bubingin wood, finished with Paul's mix.
Chris Simonsen: Brought 2 wind
chimes made from Maple and Cherry, finished with super glue.
Nick Emslander: Brought a finial
made from Poplar, finished with a polyurethane stain mix.
Treasurer’s report: We
payed for the purchase of a lathe and chuck from Martin, a lift table
from Harbor Freight, and half
years rent of the Roaring 20's Club. We still
carry a decant balance. If you
have questions call Leona.
Gathering wood: On going. Stan brought a table full of Ash and Walnut to
the meeting for the members to purchase at very little cost. The members also
approved a motion for Stan to purchase another 5 gallon bucket of wood sealant
and new band saw blade.
Soliciting new members: On going
Hands On Workshops: George Oliver said he
will do 5 again in 2015.
There will be an open workshop at Stan Lambert's
shop on (March 14)
2015 Dues are due, remain at $25.
News from others Clubs: Great Falls
Woodturners annual symposium, September 26 & 27 2015, presenter is
Rudy Lopez from Florida (from Barry Rockwell,
Yellowstone Woodturners Symposium for 2015...
After all the discussion and planning for our
2015 Symposium with Douglas Fisher at
this meeting, Ron Velin received a phone call
from Douglas next day telling him that
he was not able to attend our Symposium. No
reason given. So the club officers, Dr
Van, Martin R, and Jerry G got together and
decided on getting Alan Carter to be our
demonstrator. We gave him a call and he agreed to
come on the same dates we had
set up for our Symposium. He is a wood turner
with a back ground in the arts. There
will be more discussion at our next general
High School classes:
Dan Vanderhoof, Jerry Gipe and Stan Lambert
teaching classes in 2015 and
other members are welcome to help. There will be
a class in at least January,
February, and March. Stan told us the class
attendance is a few to several
