Show and Tell: June challenge, any kind of kitchen
Stan Lambert: Brought a hot plate made from Birch with
club mix finish and a oven push-pull stick
made from Kingswood with club mix finish.
Ralph Pehl: Brought a rolling pin made from Ash, finish
unknown and 2 whisks with 1 Juniper handle
and 1 Cedar handle, finish unknown.
Jane Kelly: Brought 2 tsp. Scoops made from Green Ash with
a lacquer finish.
Ron Velin: Brought a ice cream scoop with a Cherry handle
and a CA finish.
Roger Hust: Brought a salt & pepper shaker made from
Cherry, finish unknown and a butcher block
kind of wood and finish unknown.
Andrew Bishop: Brought a wine stopper made from Juniper
with a coconut oil finish and 2 bottle
openers, 1 with a Poplar handle and 1 with a Russian Olive
handle with coconut oil finish.
Dale Molyneaux: Brought 5 kitchen utensils all with Cherry
handles, finish unknown and a bowl
made from Russian Olive, finish unknown.
Dave Torrence: Brought a 8”x3” carved bowl, kind of wood
and finish unknown.
Tim Morgan: Brought a saucepan made from Redwood with a
tung oil finish and a sugar bowl &
scoop made from Maple with a oil and epoxy finish.
Jarred McDaniel: Brought 2 honey dippers and a spoon, kind
of wood and finish unknown.
George Hoffman: Brought a rolling pin made from Oak, kind
of finish unknown.
Other show and tell:
San Lambert: Brought a wine
bottle cooler made from Big Leaf Maple with club mix finish.
He also brought a piece that we
had to guess what it was, it was made from Paduke with a club mix finish.

Gathering Wood: On going
Soliciting New Members: On going
Open Workshop: Was on Saturday, May 9 at
Stan's shop where we made tops to be
handed out at St. Vincent's Pediatric Unite at a
later date. There were 10 to 11 members there and they made 39 tops.
Hands On Workshops: George Oliver said he
will do some Workshops, the particulars to be worked out when he returns.
2015 Dues are due, remain at $25.
Great Falls Woodturners annual symposium,
September 26 & 27 2015, presenter is Rudy Lopez from Florida (from Barry
Yellowstone Woodturners Symposium for 2015...
Alan Carter will be our presenter. Cost if payed
by September 9 $ 90.00
Cost if payed after September 9 $100.00
Cost for one day Saturday or Sunday $ 75.00
Under 18 Free
Includes: lunch, coffee, cookies and snacks.
We need to start thinking about items for our
silent auction at our Symposium because
this is our biggest fund raiser for our club.
Dick Buckley has already donated a sander, so
if you have tools, wood or other items that other
turners would be interested in that
you would be willing to donate bring them in.
High School classes:
Classes for students are finished for this school
Monthly turning challenge:
The July challenge is for any kind of tool screw
drivers, awls, mallets etc.
We now have a new inventory list for our library
and a new members list that are
posted on our web site, so if you would like a
copy you can get it there or call Ron Velin.
Montana Fair: August 7th thru
We need more members to sign up to work at our
display at the fair. It is nice to have at
least two people at each shift if there is more
that is great.
Sunday, August 2 is the set up time for this
year's fair so we are starting to plan for that.
Nick E talked to the members about showing there
turnings at the fair in the arts and
crafts building. There is a $5.00 entry fee but
you can enter in as many categories as you
like, 1st wins $20.00 2nd
$15.00 3rd $10.00 4th $5.00. If you would like to enter,
you can do
it on line or we have some entry forms in with
our library. There is also a master list of
all the categories you can enter. Entries must be
in by July 31st.
PROGRAM: Chris Simonson gave a great and
very informative presentation on using CA glue as
the finish on our turnings. He also showed us how
he apply s his final waxing. You
sure can tell how well versed he is.

from knee replacement.

MontanaFAIR : August 7 thru 15th
Work schedule has been passed around and still has
spots available. Just because someone else has signed up, doesn’t mean we can’t
use your help.
The booth we usually have at the fair may not be feasible
this year. It is the 100th anniversary of the fair and the Hobby building is
being utilized for something else. The board is meeting next week to see if
they can find us a spot that has enough electrical capacity to serve us and we
won't know until sometime next week. To be on the safe side, I will be passing
the work schedule around again at the meetting, so if we do have a spot we will

Alan Carter is extremely excited to be coming out to
present four different sessions on: Long Stem goblets, suspended vessels, split
bowl vessels and design. More info on Alan can be found at
www.alancarterstudio.com. Dates are the same, October 17th and 18th.
Cost will be $90 for full symposium and $75 for one day. Cost at the door will
